Revanth accuses Opposition of obstructing development, lays foundation for fruit market, Sub-Registrar office complex at Koheda
HYDERABAD
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday reiterated his government’s commitment to driving major development projects like Bharat Future City, while slamming Opposition parties for their alleged attempts to stall key initiatives.
Addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone for an integrated fruit market and an integrated Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) complex in Koheda on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Mr. Reddy said that the Bharat Future City project was being planned in response to environmental concerns caused by pharmaceutical industries in surrounding areas.
“We will bring 500 of the world’s most renowned companies to Future City,” he said.
Mr. Reddy accused BRS leaders of spreading ‘lies’ that major projects such as the Regional Ring Road (RRR), Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS), and Tummidihatti project, would not materialise.
“If they continue with such false campaigns, there will be no space for the Opposition in future,” he said, adding that attempts to resist development would weaken democratic discourse.
Emphasising the importance of strengthening agricultural infrastructure around Hyderabad, he said, “While real estate has expanded rapidly, agriculture has stagnated. With a population of over 1.3 crore, Hyderabad has grown into an international city, but we are struggling to meet its food requirements.
“In the past, temporary sheds collapsed during storms, causing severe injuries to farmers. I had promised then that we will build an international-standard fruit market,” the CM said.
The integrated fruit market in Koheda will be developed in about 239 acres.
Mr. Reddy also announced plans to promote crop diversification, noting that farmers currently focus on paddy, maize, cotton, and chilli. “We are even buying vegetables like coriander from neighbouring States. Every fruit and vegetable should be grown in our region,” he said, announcing that a tomato processing unit would be set up in Kandukur.
Highlighting deficiencies in the existing registration system, the Chief Minister said sub-registrar offices lack basic amenities despite generating significant revenue.
“Registrations bring in nearly ₹15,000 crore annually, yet there is no proper infrastructure. We are addressing this by developing integrated complexes,” he said, adding, “Development will not stop. We will continue to build infrastructure, support farmers, and implement welfare schemes.”
Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, and others attended the event.
