CBI arrests postal department official in ₹30,000 bribery case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an Inspector of Posts of Wanaparthy Division in Telangana for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹30,000 from a complainant.
According to the CBI, the case was registered on May 7 against the Superintendent and Inspector of Posts of Wanaparthy Division and other unknown persons over allegations of extorting ₹1.3 lakh from the complainant and demanding an additional ₹30,000 for releasing substitute salary dues.
The agency laid a trap and caught the Inspector of Posts red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe amount.
The accused was produced before the Principal Special Judge for CBI cases in Hyderabad on Friday and remanded to judicial custody till May 20.
Searches were conducted at two residential premises linked to the accused at Badangpet in Rangareddy district and Warangal Cross Road in Khammam.
An investigation is under way.
