School bus runs over 6-yr-old in Amravati | Nagpur News
Amravati: A 6-year-old schoolgirl was crushed under the front wheel of her own school bus while alighting near the police chowki at Bazaar Chowk in Riddhapur on Saturday. The girl, Ishwari Ravindra Thakare, was a Class 1 student of Anand Primary School, Chandur Bazar, and a resident of Riddhapur.Police said the tragic accident took place when Ishwari was returning home in the school bus. Four students, including Ishwari got off the bus and were about to walk home, when the bus driver, Akshay Ramdas Pundsange, allegedly accelerated without noticing the girl a few feet away. The front wheel rolled over her head. She was rushed to Chandur Bazar rural hospital in the same bus, but doctors declared her brought dead.The driver surrendered at the police station and was taken into custody. Villagers alleged there was no conductor on the bus and the driver was monitoring the students. A restive crowd gathered at Chandur Bazar Rural Hospital and Amravati Rural SP Niketan Kadam ordered additional police deployment at the hospital. A case was being registered under Section 106 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing death due to negligence, the SP said.
