Missing components to arrive from Paris as Futala Fountain revival finally picks up pace | Nagpur News
Nagpur: Work on reviving the long-delayed Futala Musical Fountain project has gathered momentum, with MahaMetro officials stating that most of the electrical infrastructure has been reinstated and specialised components are expected to arrive from Paris in the coming weeks. As per officials, the project required the laying of nearly 76,000 metres of cable, of which around 70,000 metres have already been installed. A prominent Banyan Tree structure has also been erected at the centre of Futala Lake and is expected to become a key attraction of the fountain show. The structure will showcase Nagpur’s history and heritage through advanced audio-visual technology. To assess the condition of the system and guide the repair process, French expert Basile recently visited Nagpur. Officials said several critical pump and pipeline components required for the fountain system are being sourced from Paris. The work order for these materials is expected to be issued shortly, and the components are likely to reach Nagpur within six weeks.Authorities are exploring the possibility of transporting the equipment through passenger aircraft instead of cargo flights to reduce transit time.Once the imported components arrive, a team of specialists from France is expected to visit Nagpur to assist in the installation and calibration of the system.Officials clarified that the fountain will not become operational immediately after repairs are completed. Installation and repair work is expected to continue for another month and a half after the arrival of the equipment. This will be followed by a testing phase lasting approximately 15 to 20 days to ensure all systems function smoothly. If the remaining work progresses as planned, MahaMetro officials said the iconic Futala Fountain could finally be opened to the public after years of delays, giving Nagpur residents a much-awaited waterfront attraction.
