Mumbai lake levels: Seven lakes down marginally; now hold 88.70 per cent water stock as of August 9

Mumbai’s seven lakes, which supply drinking water to the city, collectively held 12,83,826 million litres of water, or 88.70 per cent of their total live storage capacity, as of 6 am on Sunday, August 9, according to the Hydraulic Engineer’s Department at the Bhandup Master Control Centre.  

The current stock stays lower than the same period last year, when the reservoirs contained 12,89,796 million litres (89.11 per cent). However, the lake levels remain significantly lower than 2024, when the lakes had 13,15,165 million litres, accounting for 90.97 per cent of the total live storage.
