Ajay Kumar Mattewada, an international micro sculptor from Warangal, Telangana, has created a miniature sculpture of the Statue of Liberty along with the USA 250 logo and the United States national flag inside the eye of a needle, to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary of independence.

In a statement issued on Friday (July 3, 2026), Mr. Ajay said the sculpture features a 0.93-mm replica of the Statue of Liberty, approximately 10,000 times smaller than the original 93-metre monument. “The work was originally completed in 2018 after about 130 hours of painstaking effort spread over three months,” he said, adding that he had updated the sculpture by adding the USA 250 logo and a miniature U.S. national flag. The flag reproduces all 13 stripes, seven red and six white, and 50 white stars.

He was later invited as a special guest to the 248th U.S. Independence Day celebrations hosted by the Consulate, where he was honoured for his contribution to micro sculpting.
