API commits suicide at Police quarters No suicide note was found

Assistant Police Inspector (API) Dhnyaneshwar Jhol (35), posted in the Applications and Protocol Branch of the Nagpur Police Commissionerate, died by suicide at the Gittikhadan Police quarters around midnight on Saturday.
According to police, Jhol returned home after duty and had dinner with his family. Later, his wife went to another room to put their two children to sleep. When she returned, she found Jhol hanging with a sari.
Family members and colleagues immediately rushed him to a hospital.

 

Doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police reached the spot and conducted a panchnama. No suicide note was found.
Police are collecting evidence and checking Jhol’s activities and contacts before the incident.
Jhol was known for his soft nature. His death has shocked his colleagues and family members. Police officials said the exact reason behind the extreme step is not yet known. They are investigating
whether any personal, family or work-related issue led to the suicide. 

 

Work stress
or personal problems?

 

The incident has again raised concerns about workload and mental stress among police
personnel.
Colleagues said Jhol’s sudden death has left them in a state of shock.
Jhol was not talkative, but stress on his face was visible for past one week. But no senior officer inquired him about the stress, said his colleagues.
