Mahesh Goud accuses BRS leaders of resorting to ‘lies’ to cover up their ‘financial mismanagement’ while in power
KARIMNAGAR
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud has accused the BRS leaders of resorting to false propaganda against the Congress government alleging that they were rattled by the exposure of ‘financial mismanagement’ during their previous regime.
Speaking to reporters in Karimnagar on Friday, Mr. Goud reiterated the charge that the previous BRS government pushed the State into a debt burden of around ₹8 lakh crore.
The previous BRS regime indiscriminately borrowed funds and spent a whopping ₹1.20 lakh crore in the name of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), eventually pushing the State into debt burden, he alleged.
“The people of Telangana voted the BRS out of power in the previous Assembly elections because of its misrule and financial mismanagement. The BRS drew a blank in the subsequent Lok Sabha elections,” he said, accusing BRS leaders K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao of indulging in mudslinging against the Congress government out of sheer frustration.
Despite financial challenges, the Congress government is implementing a slew of welfare schemes and steering the State on the path of all-round development, he said.
He alleged that the BRS and the BJP had undermined the interests of farmers for selfish political gains, he alleged.
Terming the BJP national president Nitin Nabin’s recent visit to Telangana as a “flop show”, Mr. Goud said people were disillusioned with the anti-poor and pro-corporate policies of the BJP-led Central government.
“There is no place for communal polarisation politics of the BJP in Telangana,” he said.
Later, Mr. Goud visited the famous Kondagattu hill shrine in Jagtial district and offered prayers.
