ECI announces SIR schedule for Telangana; BLO’s house-to-house visits from June 25-July 24

Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday (May 14, 2026) announced the schedule of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana along with 15 more States and three Union Territories (UTs), under Phase III of SIR. The number of electors in Telangana as on May 12, 2026, was 3,39,20,705.

In Telangana, Booth Level Officers (BLO) will take up house-to-house visits from June 25 to July 24, 2026. Rationalisation of polling stations has to be completed by July 24, 2026. Draft electoral rolls will be published on July 31, 2026. Claims and objections can be filed between July 31, 2026 to August 30, 2026, as per the schedule announced on Thursday. 

The claims and objections will be disposed of between July 31 to September 28, 2026. Final electoral rolls will be published on October 1, 2026. 

The ECI has urged political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLA) for each polling station to ensure full participation of the parties so that SIR is conducted with complete transparency. 

On Monday (May 11, 2026), Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Telangana, C. Sudharshan Reddy directed district Collectors to complete 90% progress in mapping of electors by end of the month.
