Army chief fetes Amt ex-soldier with ‘Veteran Achiever Award’ | Nagpur News
Nagpur: Retired Indian Army craftsman Dhirajkumar Satpute from Amravati was honoured with the ‘Veteran Achiever Award’ by general Upendra Dwivedi, chief of the Army staff, at a ceremony held at the Colaba Army Camp in Mumbai. The award recognises Satpute’s contributions after retirement, particularly his efforts to motivate youth to join the armed forces and support ex-servicemen and their families in navigating administrative and welfare-related issues. Along with General Dwivedi, DS Kushwaha, General Officer Commanding of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa, presented Satpute with a certificate of honour and a medal. After completing his military service, Satpute devoted himself to social work, focusing on the welfare of veterans across Maharashtra. Through outreach programmes, he has been actively encouraging youngsters to consider careers in the armed forces. He has also been delivering motivational lectures in schools and colleges, promoting patriotism and awareness about opportunities in the military.Apart from inspiring the youth, Satpute has been working closely with ex-servicemen, helping them resolve pension, documentation and administrative issues that often arise after retirement. His consistent efforts to support the veteran community and maintain a connection between the armed forces and society were acknowledged through the award. Several other veterans were also recognised at the ceremony for their contributions in different fields. Those honoured included veteran Colonel Srinavetu Chatterjee, Lieutenant Colonel Kamalpreet Saggi, JCO Subedar Major Saravan R, Sergeant Edmund Peter Francis and Chief Petty Officer Shashi Bhushan Mishra.
