2 Nagpur teens steal taps worth ₹6.5 lakh to buy iPhones for girlfriends, caught within 12 hours: Report
As per a report by NDTV, the duo sold the expensive sanitary ware to a local scrap dealer in exchange for just ₹20,000. The motive behind the robbery was to raise money to buy iPhones for their girlfriends.
The unusual burglary occurred at a warehouse named Rahul Ceramics Private Limited, which deals in tiles, sanitary ware, and bath fittings.
The theft came to light when the owner Rahul Jaychand Batra filed a police complaint. Batra informed police that during the night of May 27, unidentified individuals entered his warehouse after removing tin sheets from the roof and stole several items.
Among the stolen goods were five gold-tone taps valued at ₹3.94 lakh, three standard gold-coloured taps worth ₹67,000, nine rose-gold taps valued at ₹1.30 lakh and four silver-coloured taps worth ₹58,000. The total value of the stolen items was estimated at around ₹ 6.5 lakh.
Following the complaint, police launched an intensive investigation. Officers examined footage from more than 20 CCTV cameras installed in and around the warehouse and also relied on local informants to track down the suspects.
Based on information gathered during the probe, police identified and detained two minors in connection with the burglary. During questioning, the teenagers allegedly confessed to the crime and told investigators that they needed money to purchase iPhones as gifts for their girlfriends.
Police later arrested 38-year-old Irfan Ali, also known as Immu Ramzan Ali, who allegedly purchased the stolen items.

Police said the stolen sanitary ware has been recovered. “Based on technical investigation and confidential information, our team solved this case in just 12 hours,” Sub-Inspector Santosh Kumar Ramlod of Kalamna Police Station was quoted as saying by NDTV.
