Teacher Eligibility Test 2026 postponed, leaves aspirants disappointed
Staff Reporter :
The Maharashtra State Council of Examination’s (MSCE) decision to postpone the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 has left thousands of aspiring teachers disappointed and frustrated. The examination, scheduled to be held across Maharashtra on June 28, was postponed following a suspected question paper leak, MSCE Commissioner Mahesh Chothe announced through an official circular issued on Saturday.
The TET was to be conducted at 1,028 centres across Maharashtra.
In Nagpur alone, around 17,000 candidates had registered to appear at 35 examination centres.
In the wake of irregularities reported in the NEET 2026 examination, the Council had already implemented stringent security measures to ensure a fair and transparent examination process.
However, after a suspected question paper leak came
to light during a police
investigation in Bhiwandi,
the Council decided to postpone the TET to protect
its integrity.
The sudden postponement has caused considerable disappointment among candidates. A D.Ed-qualified candidate, who completed her course three years ago and is currently working as a temporary teacher in a private school, said she had been eagerly awaiting the examination.
Clearing the TET would have made her eligible for a permanent teaching position for Classes 1 to 5.
“I had prepared for months and was hopeful of qualifying this time. The postponement of TET is disappointing and has left us uncertain about our future,” she said.
MSCE has stated that the revised examination date will be announced later through its official website. Avoid rumours: MSCE
MSCE has clarified that although the TET 2026 has been postponed, no new examination date has been announced. The Council has urged candidates not to believe rumours or unverified information circulating on social media regarding the revised schedule. Candidates have been advised to rely only on official announcements issued by MSCE for further updates. Eligibility
