State Govt proposes to hostNational Games: IOA Prez Mohol

MAHARASHTRA Government is
planning to host 40th National
Games in the State. The
Government has sent a proposal
to Indian Olympic Association
showing the eagerness to conduct the Games in the State.
Union Minister Muralidhar
Mohol, who is also President of
Maharashtra Olympic
Association, revealed this during
the felicitation ceremony of the
newly-elected MOA executive
body, here in Nagpur.
The felicitation function was
organised by Khasdar Krida
Mahotsav committee where
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari feted the entire executive body.
“Maharashtra Government
has sent a proposal to IOA showing interest in hosting National
Games in Maharashtra. It would
be an honour for us to host the
prestigious Games,” said Mohol.
“If all goes well we will conduct the 40th edition of National
Games in 2028,” stated Mohol.

 

“I request Gadkari to put a
word in our support at the Centre
and that would be enough for us
to get the National Games’ hosting rights,” Mohol said.
This edition’s National Games
will be held in Meghalaya in early months of 2027.
Lauding the organisation of
Khasdar Krida Mahotsav, Mohol
admitted that because of KKM
in Nagpur, he has started the
same in Pune, albeit at a smaller scale. In his address, Gadkari
stated that KKM has been themost awaited event forNagpurians. “Though this year,the event was delayed due toMunicipal elections, we decided to conduct the event with lessdisciplines (15 sports). But Iassure you that the next editionwill be held in January 2027 andwill have all the disciplines (65),”declared Gadkari.
“Bollywood star Suniel Shettywill inaugurate KKM on May 31at Yashwant Stadium at 5.30 am,”Gadkari declared. KKMConvenor Sandip Joshi madeintroductory remarks while DrPiyush Ambulkar conducted theproceedings.
