Sex racket exposed in Hudkeshwar, Nagpur, one rescued, woman arrested

Nagpur: In a decisive action against human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, Nagpur Police carried out a raid under “Operation Shakti,” rescuing a victim and arresting a woman accused of running a prostitution racket in the Hudkeshwar area.
Acting on credible information, a team from the Social Security Branch of the Crime Branch conducted a raid between 5.15 pm and 10.10 pm on May 4 at a house located at Plot No. 10, Madhav Nagari, Besa-Pipla Road under the jurisdiction of Hudkeshwar Police Station.
During the operation, the police caught the accused, identified as Padmini Gulshan Basu (29), allegedly facilitating prostitution by providing premises to customers and exploiting victims for financial gain. One victim was rescued from the spot.
Police seized cash amounting to Rs 2,000, two mobile phones, and other materials used in the illegal activity, collectively valued at approximately Rs 17,040.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. The accused, along with the seized property, has been handed over to Hudkeshwar Police for further investigation.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Ravinder Kumar Singal, along with senior officers including Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil. The raid was executed by Police Inspector Rahul Shire and his team.
Police officials stated that such operations will continue as part of a sustained crackdown to dismantle networks involved in human trafficking and sexual exploitation in the city.
