Nagpur Nears 47°C as Severe Heatwave Grips Vidarbha; Wardha Hottest at 47.1°C
Nagpur and Wardha continued to reel under intense heatwave conditions on Wednesday as temperatures remained significantly above normal across the Vidarbha region. According to the latest weather observations, Wardha recorded the highest maximum temperature in the region at a scorching 47.1 degrees Celsius, while Nagpur followed closely at 46.6 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) data showed that temperatures in both cities were well above seasonal averages, indicating severe heatwave conditions. Wardha registered a departure of +3.8 degrees Celsius above normal, while Nagpur recorded +3.1 degrees Celsius above normal. The extreme heat has led to harsh daytime conditions, with dry winds and low humidity adding to public discomfort.
Several other Vidarbha districts including Amravati (46.4°C), Chandrapur (46.2°C), Gadchiroli (45.6°C) and Akola (45.2°C) also witnessed soaring temperatures. Nagpur recorded one of the lowest evening humidity levels in the region at just 18 percent, further intensifying the dry heat conditions.
Weather officials have advised citizens to avoid direct exposure to sunlight during afternoon hours, stay hydrated and take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses as the severe heatwave is expected to persist across Vidarbha.
