Nagpur: Nandanvan Police have busted an alleged gambling racket operating through casino machines near Hasanbagh Chowk and arrested six persons who were allegedly found gambling for money at a lottery and game parlour.

According to police, a Nandanvan Police patrol team was conducting rounds late at night when it received confidential information about gambling allegedly being conducted through casino machines at a lottery and game parlour near the cemetery at Hasanbagh Chowk.

Acting on the information, the police team conducted a raid at the premises in the presence of panch witnesses.

During the operation, six persons were allegedly caught red-handed placing monetary bets and gambling on casino machines.

The arrested accused have been identified as Syed Mohammed Musavviruddin Salamuddin Syed Qazi, Abdul Salman Abdul Salam, Abdul Azeem Abdul Rahim, Mohammed Akram Mohammed Baitullah, Kashinath Dadaji Yewale and Madan Kashinath Badge.

Police seized seven casino machines, two computers and cash, along with other material, with the total value of the seized property reportedly exceeding Rs 2 lakh.

During preliminary questioning, the accused allegedly told police that they had been operating the casino gambling activity at the premises with the assistance of a person named Abhishek, who is identified as the owner of the shop.

Nandanvan Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law and launched a further investigation to establish the role of the shop owner and determine whether other persons were involved in running or financing the alleged gambling operation.

Police are also examining the seized machines and computers as part of the investigation.
