Mission Mukti Phase 3: 49 Rescued From Streets as Heatwave Hits Nagpur


Nagpur: As part of the ‘Beggar-Free Nagpur and Heatstroke Prevention Mission (Mission Mukti – Phase 3),’a joint operation was conducted on May 8.

Under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal, a combined team from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Sakkardara and Imambada Police Station, Sahyadri Foundation, and Divyavandana Aadhar Foundation targeted key areas including Rajabaksha Temple and Chhota/Motha Tajbagh. The drive successfully rescued a total of 49 individuals found vulnerable to the extreme heat: out of which 16 were men and 19 were women. Whereas 14 children (boys and girls) were rescued.

The rescued individuals were transferred to various specialised facilities for health check-ups and long-term rehabilitation: NMC Astha Beggar Rehabilitation Shelter: 06 individuals NMC Shanti Sadan Women’s Shelter: 06 individuals Child Welfare Committee (Govt Children’s Home, Katol Road): 19 children Divyavandana Aadhar Foundation: 04 individuals Government Medical Hospital (GMCH): 14 individuals were admitted for urgent medical treatment. This mission reflects the city’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable citizens from life-threatening weather conditions while providing a structured path toward social reintegration.
