Mid-Day impact: Two Mumbai Police staffers suspended over fake police IDs and salary fraud involving 10 fictitious personnel

Two ministerial staffers of the Mumbai Police have been suspended for their alleged involvement in a financial fraud in which fake service and Defined Contribution Pension Scheme (DCPS) IDs were allegedly created in the names of 10 non-existent police personnel, enabling the processing of their salaries, officials said.
The suspended employees have been identified as Vijaya Ashok Chavan, an office superintendent with the armed police at Marol, and Amol Arunrao Meshram, a senior clerk with the Western Regional Division.
