Kalamna Police Solve Burglary Case, Arrest Two Accused

Nagpur: Demonstrating swift investigative work, the Kalamna Police have solved a house burglary case within days by analysing CCTV footage and acting on intelligence inputs. Two accused have been arrested and stolen property worth around Rs 1 lakh has been recovered.

The case was registered at Kalamna Police Station following a complaint by Raju Keshavrao Butke (57), a resident of Gajmukh Society, Om Sai Nagar.

According to police, Butke had locked his house and left with his family on June 23 to attend a cousin’s wedding at Gumgaon. On returning the next morning, he found the main door lock broken. An inspection revealed that an iron cupboard inside the bedroom had been forced open and valuables, including gold and silver ornaments, a Fuji camera, an HP laptop, and Rs 15,000 in cash, had been stolen.

Immediately after registering the offence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), investigators led by Senior Police Inspector Pravin Kale scrutinised footage from 10 to 15 CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity. Information gathered from confidential informants further helped police identify the suspects.

The accused, identified as Sumit Ganpat Meshram (19) of Naragaon, Jaripatka, and Dhruv Rajesh Birbal (20), currently residing in the Timki Tinkhamba Chowk area, were taken into custody. During interrogation, both allegedly confessed to the crime.

Police recovered a gold pendant, gold earrings and an HP laptop, collectively valued at approximately Rs 1 lakh, from their possession.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil, Joint Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioner of Police (South) Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nityanand Jha, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Rohit Oval.

Senior Police Inspector Pravin Kale, PSI Ajay Jadhav, and members of the investigation team played a key role in cracking the case. Police said further investigation is underway.
