India To Host 3rd BRICS Transport Ministers Meeting In Nagpur


New Delhi, July 7: India will host the 3rd BRICS Transport Ministers Meeting in Nagpur, Maharashtra, on July 11 and 12, 2026, under its BRICS Chairship. Ministers and senior officials from BRICS member countries will discuss sustainable transport, resilient infrastructure, and future mobility.

The meeting will take place under India’s BRICS Chairship theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” It aims to strengthen collaboration among member nations through innovation, connectivity, and sustainable transport systems.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will chair the ministerial meeting on July 11. Transport ministers from other BRICS countries are expected to participate.

The BRICS Transport Working Group serves as the main platform for policy dialogue and cooperation in the transport sector. After the first two meetings hosted by Russia and Brazil, the Nagpur meeting will focus on expanding international transport cooperation.

The agenda aligns with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, which promotes a climate conscious, technology driven, and disaster resilient transport ecosystem. India also aims to reduce logistics costs by expanding electric mobility, multimodal transport, and circular economy practices.

During the two day event, senior officials will review progress made since the previous BRICS chairships and discuss new areas of cooperation. Key topics include Sustainable Aviation Fuel, urban mobility, multimodal transport, resilient logistics supply chains, decarbonisation, and the adoption of AI based technologies.

The expanded BRICS grouping includes Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. Together, these countries represent nearly half of the world’s population and contribute around 40 percent of global GDP.

The 3rd BRICS Transport Ministers Meeting is expected to strengthen transport cooperation, improve regional and global connectivity, enhance logistics efficiency, and support innovation driven economic growth across BRICS nations.
