High-level meeting to review rain deficit in Karimnagar on Sunday amid El Nino concerns
With the erstwhile Karimnagar district reeling under a below-normal monsoon and a prolonged dry spell, a high-level review meeting has been convened in Karimnagar on Sunday (July 19) to assess the situation and prepare contingency plans amid El Nino concerns.
The water level in the Lower-Manair Dam (LMD) in Karimnagar has dropped to 5.57 tmc ft against its full capacity of 24 tmc ft.
In Rajanna Sircilla district, the Mid-Manair Dam holds 7.44 tmc of water against its full capacity of 27.55 tmc, while the Upper Manair Dam has 0.612 tmc ft against its full capacity of 2 tmc ft, according to official sources.
Agriculture Minister and district in-charge Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao will chair the review meeting, which will be attended by Ministers D. Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar and Adluri Laxman Kumar.
The meeting will focus on contingency measures and farmer advisories to tackle the impact of deficient rainfall.
