Axis Bank manager arrested for embezzling ₹6.5 crore from NRI account

An Axis Bank manager was arrested on April 13 in connection with a 2024 case involving the alleged embezzlement of ₹6.5 crore from the account of a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) customer at the bank’s Begumpet branch.

The accused, Venkataramana, was taken into custody by the Panjagutta police and remanded to judicial custody. Police suspect the involvement of other bank officials in the fraud.
