Nagpur drub host Dhule – The Hitavada

NAGPUR district got off to the best possible start in their Maharashtra State (WIFA) Inter-District Football Championship for Junior Boys at Shirpur in Dhule on Wednesday.
Nagpur boys showed no sign of rustiness as they drubbed hosts Dhule 4-0 to move into the second round of the competition.
Nagpur will next play Buldhana who defeated Ratnagiri 3-0.
In the morning match, Nagpur captain Humayl Shiekh and Soham Neware combined well scoring a goal each and assisting one to blank Dhule.
The match started on a positive note for Nagpur when Neware slotted the ball home from a close range in the second minute of play. Akshay Pandey then doubled the lead after receiving a perfect pass from the top D from Sheikh in the 15th minute as Nagpur changed ends with a two-goal cushion.
Janay Patel then coolly converted a spot kick in the 55th minute after captain Sheikh was brought down inside the rectangle. Skipper Sheikh then himself fired in a powerful grounder into the net after receiving the pass from Neware in the 59th to complete the rout.
