Despite rains, youngsters and oppn join CJP protest to support Wangchuk | Nagpur News

Nagpur: Braving incessant rain, hundreds of youngsters and functionaries from opposition parties on Monday joined the protest organised by Cockroach Janta Party-Nagpur at Samvidhan Square in support of activist Sonam Wangchuk and demanded resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.Protesters raised slogans against the Centre, displayed placards demanding accountability and called for justice for Wangchuk, who remains hospitalised after being shifted from Jantar Mantar in Delhi where he had launched an indefinite hunger strike.The demonstration also saw participation from Shiv Sena (UBT), CPI, Bhim Sena and several other political and social organisations.Former Ramtek MP and Shiv Sena (UBT) functionary Prakash Jadhav accused the Centre of ignoring people’s concerns. Drawing parallels with the agrarian crisis and other controversies, he said the “paper leak” was another example of administrative failure that required immediate action.District Bar Association president Roshan Bagde said the movement was based on a just cause. “We stand firmly with Wangchuk and support his demands,” he said.Several Gen-Z protesters said young people need to speak up against issues affecting students. One of the protesters, Parikshit Patil, said it was time the govt accepted responsibility for its actions. On the alleged NEET paper leak, he said it affected the future of several students, and “accountability could no longer be delayed”.The protest maintained a distinct satirical tone, with participants coining humorous versions of traditional slogans.Another participant, Jay Kondawar, said even small citizen-led movements had the potential to bring meaningful change. He noted that Wangchuk’s protest in Delhi had continued for over 20 days and expressed hope that sustained public support would eventually compel the govt to respond.
