9 Minor Children Rescued in Major Crackdown on Child Labour at Butibori MIDC
Nagpur: A major action against child labour has been carried out in the Butibori MIDC area of Nagpur district, where authorities rescued nine minor children from a factory following a complaint.
The raid was conducted at a Narayana factory, where a joint team freed a total of nine children – including four girls and five boys — who were allegedly being forced to work.

Shocking Findings During Investigation
Preliminary investigation revealed disturbing conditions inside the factory. The minors were reportedly made to operate heavy and hazardous machinery, exposing them to serious risks. Additionally, they were working in a chemical-laden environment, posing severe threats to their health.
Authorities also found that the living conditions provided to the children were extremely poor and unhygienic.
Trafficking Suspicions Emerge
Initial findings suggest that several children had been brought from other states and districts to work at the facility. Officials have also raised concerns that some minors may still be missing, adding further gravity to the case.
Legal Action Initiated
A case has been registered against four individuals, including the factory owner, under serious legal provisions. The operation was carried out with the support of Butibori Police.
Multi-Agency Operation
The crackdown was executed under the guidance of the District Women and Child Development Department. The joint team included the District Child Protection Officer, police officials, Childline representatives, and social workers.
Strict Warning from Authorities
Officials have reiterated that employing minors in hazardous industries is a punishable offense under the law, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
Following the raid, panic has spread across the industrial area, and further inspections are expected to be conducted in other factories.
The rescued children will be presented before the Child Welfare Committee, which will decide the next course of action regarding their rehabilitation and care.
