Youth stoned to death in forest near Symbiosis College in Nagpur

Nagpur: Panic gripped the Wathoda area on Friday after the blood-soaked body of an unidentified young man was discovered in a forested patch behind Symbiosis College in Nagpur. Police suspect the victim was brutally murdered after being struck on the head with a heavy stone.

On receiving information, a team from Wathoda Police Station rushed to the spot, secured the crime scene and conducted a preliminary investigation. The body was later sent to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination. A case of murder has been registered, and an intensive investigation is underway.

According to police, the deceased is believed to be between 25 and 30 years of age, but his identity remains unknown. He was wearing a white-and-grey checked full-sleeve shirt bearing the brand name “SELECT” on the collar and a pair of blue denim jeans with the word “DENIM” printed on the back pocket.

Investigators said the condition of the body and the crime scene indicate that the assailants allegedly crushed the victim’s head with a large stone, resulting in his death. The motive behind the killing is yet to be established.

Police have begun scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas, verifying missing persons’ records and analysing other technical evidence to trace the victim’s identity and track down those responsible for the murder.

Senior Police Inspector Pramod Pore said every effort is being made to identify the deceased. Wathoda Police have appealed to the public to immediately contact the police station if anyone has information that could help identify the victim or assist the investigation.
