Young Man Electrocuted After Climbing Freight Train at Nagpur Railway Station

Nagpur: A tragic incident occurred at Nagpur Railway Station early Tuesday morning when a young man was electrocuted after climbing onto a stationary freight train and coming into contact with an overhead high-voltage electric line. He died on the spot.

Railway Staff Acted Swiftly, But Could Not Save Him

The incident took place around 5:30 am in the railway yard. According to railway officials, the युवक climbed onto a stationary goods train and began moving toward the overhead equipment (OHE) power line.

Railway staff and officials on duty immediately noticed the dangerous situation and, anticipating a possible mishap, promptly switched off the power supply to the OHE line above the train in an attempt to prevent an accident. They also tried to persuade the man to climb down safely.

Fatal Jump to Another Freight Train

However, before he could be rescued, the man suddenly jumped from the first freight train onto another goods train standing on an adjacent track.

Unfortunately, the overhead power supply on the second track was still live. As soon as he came into contact with the high-voltage OHE wire, he suffered a severe electric shock. The impact left him critically burnt, and he died instantly at the scene.

Police Begin Investigation

The incident created panic at the station. Personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) reached the spot, took custody of the body, and initiated an investigation.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been established. Authorities are investigating why the man climbed onto the freight train and the circumstances that led to the fatal incident. Further investigation is underway.
