Vishwas Nangre Patil Appointed As New Nagpur Police Commissioner


Nagpur is set to get a new Police Commissioner, with senior IPS officer Vishwas Nangre Patil appointed as the city’s top cop following a Maharashtra government transfer order issued on June 23, 2026. As per the order, incumbent Nagpur Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal has been transferred and posted as Additional Director General of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), while Vishwas Nangre Patil will take over as the new Commissioner of Police, Nagpur City.

A 1997-batch IPS officer, Vishwas Nangre Patil is widely known for his distinguished policing career and his courageous role during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Prior to this posting, he was serving as Additional Director General of Police in the Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau.

The transfer is part of a broader reshuffle in the Maharashtra Police Department aimed at strengthening key leadership positions across the state.

Outgoing Nagpur Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal has been transferred and appointed as Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Corruption Bureau), Maharashtra. Singal, who served as Nagpur CP during several high-profile law-and-order operations and major civic events, will now head the state’s anti-corruption wing.
