‘Tum To Thehre Pardesi’ Lyricist Zaheer Alam Passes Away in Nagpur
Veteran lyricist and songwriter Zaheer Alam, who penned one of the most iconic songs of the 1990s Tum To Thehre Pardesi passed away in Nagpur on Monday.
Zaheer Alam was residing in a small house in the Mominpura area of Nagpur. Despite creating a song that became a nationwide sensation, his life remained marked by struggle and financial hardship. In recent years, he had largely faded from public memory in the city.
The song “Tum To Thehre Pardesi Saath Kya Nibhaoge” was initially sung at the local level before being immortalised by Altaf Raja, turning it into one of the biggest musical hits of the 1990s.
Though the evergreen song brought fame and commercial success to many in the music industry, Zaheer Alam himself reportedly continued to live a modest life with limited financial recognition for his contribution.
