Nagpur: Nearly three weeks after a tree was uprooted by heavy rain at Mini Mata Nagar, Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Kalamna fire station planted a sapling at the same spot.Corporator Pradeep Pohane, Kalamna fire station officer Akleem Sheikh, sanitation workers and trainees from the Regional Fire Training Centre, Kalamna, attended the plantation drive.The fire department said its role extended beyond emergency response and rescue to environmental conservation. Officials appealed to citizens to protect existing trees, plant saplings and ensure their upkeep.Participants also pledged to nurture the new tree and help it grow into a healthy replacement for the one that fell.
