Telangana police provide security to K. Nageshwar amid controversy over remarks on Jana Sena

The Telangana Police have provided security to political analyst and professor K. Nageshwar after he became embroiled in a political controversy over alleged defamatory remarks made against the Jana Sena Party (JSP) during a television debate.

As speculation intensified over the possibility of action by Andhra Pradesh police, Telangana police deployed personal security for Mr. Nageshwar at his request and stationed local police personnel outside his residence at Tolichowki.

However, officials did not confirm reports circulating on Tuesday that a large contingent of Andhra Pradesh police had arrived in Hyderabad to arrest him.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Nageshwar met the DGP and sought protection for himself and his family. He also urged the police to take appropriate action regarding threats allegedly being issued against him on social media.

Mr. Nageshwar stated that he had not received any notice from the Andhra Pradesh police in connection with the case.

He said that he had withdrawn his remarks and claimed that the Jana Sena Party had accepted the withdrawal, describing the issue as closed.
