Singareni’s past glory will be restored through new mines, new jobs: Minister Vivek Venkataswamy
Minister for Labour, Mines & Geology Dr. G. Vivek Venkataswamy has reiterated that the State government is committed to restoring the past glory of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) through new coal mines and fresh employment opportunities.
He was speaking at a felicitation ceremony held at KK-5 incline underground coal mine in Mandamarri Area of Mancherial district on Thursday, a press release said.
The Minister called upon the SCCL workers and officials to work in tandem and contribute their mite for the growth of the government coal mining company.
He said the State government is taking steps to enable the SCCL to participate in coal block tenders in line with the Central government laws.
He highlighted that starting new mines would generate significant employment, with the Ramakrishnapur Opencast (RKP OC) Phase-2 project alone is expected to provide livelihoods to around 5,000 people.
The Minister assured that the mine would be commissioned immediately after receiving the mandatory forest clearances.
“I have already brought the issue of Income Tax on employee perks to the notice of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna is actively pursuing the demand for a ₹10,000 monthly pension for retired SCCL workers, in Parliament,” he added.
