Nagpur: The 20-year-old BBA student arrested in connection with the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl has reportedly been making a series of demands for special treatment while in police custody.
According to police officials, the accused complained about the condition of the lock-up, describing the walls as dirty and the toilet as foul-smelling. He allegedly demanded pizza for breakfast, premium food for dinner, a soft bed or thick mattress, and mosquito repellents, claiming he was unable to sleep due to mosquito bites.
Officials said the accused has also been refusing to cooperate with custodial interrogation after his senior counsel alleged police highhandedness during court proceedings earlier this week. Investigators say his reluctance to answer questions has slowed certain aspects of the probe.
A senior police officer said the repeated requests have kept lock-up personnel occupied, but no special facilities have been extended beyond what is permitted under prison and police custody norms.
The accused remains in police custody as the investigation into the alleged abduction and sexual assault continues. Authorities are collecting evidence, recording witness statements, and pursuing other leads related to the case.
The allegations against the accused are currently under investigation, and the matter remains before the court.
