Nagpur, Odisha schools closed tomorrow amid heavy rains, flood warning

Schools and colleges will remain shut in Odisha’s Jajpur, Bhadrak and Keonjhar districts due to flood warnings and IMD alerts

Due to heavy rainfall and flood warnings in several districts in Odisha and a rain alert in Nagpur, the district authorities have announced school closure tomorrow. The district authorities have ordered closure of all educational institutes, private and government schools and colleges.

As per the Hindustan Times report, an order issued by the district collector and chairman of the district disaster management authority, Kumar Ashirwad, stated that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of very heavy to extremely heavy rains in Nagpur till July 30.

Schools and colleges will remain closed in Odisha’s Jajpur, Bhadrak and Keonjhar districts due to flood warnings.

Also, the revenue and disaster management minister Suresh Pujari said Odisha recorded 84% excess rainfall over the last eight days.

Nagpur schools, colleges shut

Similarly, the Nagpur district administration has declared a holiday for all schools, colleges, and anganwadis across Nagpur city and the district on July 29.

According to the Nagpur district administration’s statement, to prevent any untoward incidents in Nagpur district and to ensure that school students are not affected by emergencies resulting from excessive rainfall, it is crucial to declare a holiday for students in all Anganwadis, schools, and colleges.

Therefore, all government and private Anganwadis, primary and secondary schools, colleges, and coaching classes across the entire Nagpur city and nearby talukas of Nagpur Rural, Hingna, and Kamptee.
