Nagpur Drug Bust: LSD Consignment Seized, Two Arrested, One Absconding
Nagpur: In a major crackdown under the city’s anti-drug drive, Nagpur Police have busted an LSD trafficking operation, arresting two accused while a third suspect remains on the run.
The joint operation was carried out by the Crime Branch and Anti-Narcotics Squad as part of ‘Operation Thunder’ in the MIDC police station limits. During a combing operation and routine patrolling in the Badge Layout area of Jayatala, police noticed suspicious movements and detained two young men.
Upon searching them, officials recovered 17 LSD dots, an internationally rare and highly potent psychedelic drug. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth around ₹1.7 lakh.
The arrested accused have been identified as Kunal Giri and Dipesh Bohre, both residents of Gondia who were reportedly staying in Nagpur’s MIDC area on rent while pursuing their education. Police also seized valuables worth approximately ₹4.37 lakh from their possession, including two mobile phones, a moped, and a Pulsar motorcycle.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at MIDC Police Station. The third आरोपी, identified as Anubhav, is currently absconding, and a search operation is underway to trace him.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Maknikar, the spread of drugs like LSD among youth is a growing concern. He confirmed that authorities are investigating the source of the consignment and the larger network behind its distribution in Nagpur.
LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) is a powerful psychedelic substance known to affect serotonin receptors in the brain, often causing hallucinations and altered perception.
Nagpur Police have urged citizens to actively support the anti-drug campaign and report any suspicious activities to authorities immediately.
