IIM Nagpur Pune Campus Plan: Moshi Land Allotment and Top 100 Business School Goal


IIM Nagpur will develop a full campus in Pune after the Maharashtra government allotted 70 acres at Moshi on a nominal lease. Director Dr Bhimaraya Metri said the Pune campus marks the start of a wider five-year plan to expand nationally and globally, with an aim to enter the world’s top 100 business schools.

The plan included a full campus in Pune and wider national growth. Metri also linked the push to stronger global partnerships and new programme areas.

The Maharashtra government allotted 70 acres at Moshi in Pune district. The land came on a nominal lease of Re 1. Metri said this cleared the way for a full-fledged IIM Nagpur campus in Pune. Moshi was described as a fast-growing residential and industrial hub in western Maharashtra.

Metri, recently reappointed for another five-year term, called the Pune site a first step. Metri said the institute’s next phase would follow “From India to the World.\” Metri also said IIM Nagpur would be the only IIM with such a large second campus. Metri added that expansion in Goa stayed on the roadmap.

The proposed Pune campus was set to focus on manufacturing and newer industry needs. Areas named included Industry 4.0, digital technologies, AI, and IT management. Planned courses included an integrated BBA-MBA. Metri also spoke of a five-year BTech-MBA with leading IITs through collaboration.

IIM Nagpur global partnerships and Top 100 business schools goal

IIM Nagpur already had an academic collaboration with the University of Lille, France. Metri said this included student mobility options. Over five years, IIM Nagpur aimed to build partnerships with 20 leading universities. These partners were expected across continents, supporting study abroad and dual-degree pathways.

\”We want our students to experience the world, study on international campuses and earn globally relevant qualifications. Our aim is to build meaningful partnerships across continents,\” Metri said.

Metri said the institute also targeted Asia’s Top 10 business schools. The global push was tied to IIM Nagpur’s Strategic Roadmap 2026-31. Metri said this roadmap covered multi-campus growth and AI-driven management education. It also included India-centric research and entrepreneurship.

IIM Nagpur energy and climate action work and Executive Education

Energy and climate action were listed as priority areas for the coming years. IIM Nagpur planned to build on its Executive MBA in Energy Management with N National Power Training Institute. Metri also cited engagement with ONGC Green Ltd. A proposed Centre of Excellence for Heat Resilience and Sustainable Cooling was also mentioned.

The Strategic Roadmap 2026-31 also set goals in Executive Education. Metri said IIM Nagpur aimed to place among India’s Top 3 institutions in this segment. Metri also linked the plan to a larger role in Maharashtra’s development. The roadmap included work connected to the Vidarbha region, including Nagpur.

Metri described the Pune campus as a key pillar for IIM Nagpur’s next phase. The institute planned growth across campuses while raising global engagement. Goals included Top 100 worldwide and Top 10 in Asia. The plans also covered energy, climate action, and Executive Education over the next five years.
