Elderly man sentenced to 20 years RI for sexually assaulting minor girl

A 70-year-old man, earlier arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl, was sentenced to undergo 20 years in rigorous imprisonment by a special court for trial and disposal of POCSO Act cases in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The court also slapped a fine of ₹5,000 on the accused.

The accused, identified as Mohammed Zameeruddin, a resident of Gulshan Iqbal Colony, was arrested by the Chandrayangutta police in May 2023 after a case was booked against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
