Doha–Nagpur Direct Flight Suspension Extended Till September 15 Amid Tensions

Nagpur’s only direct international flight connection via Doha will remain suspended for longer, as Qatar Airways has extended the halt on its Doha–Nagpur–Doha service until September 15 due to ongoing geopolitical tensions.

At present, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport has direct international flights only to Sharjah and Doha. However, due to the continuing Iran conflict and security concerns following attacks involving the United States and Israel, the airline had initially suspended its Nagpur operations from March 1.

The suspension, first planned for March, was later extended to May 15 and has now been pushed further to mid-September.Even though Qatar has encouraged Indian airlines to start direct flights to Doha, rising Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices have so far prevented Indian carriers from launching services on the Nagpur–Doha route. The extended suspension has especially affected passengers travelling to Europe and the United States.

Earlier, Doha served as a convenient transit hub, but travellers now have to rely on connecting flights via Mumbai or Delhi, leading to longer travel times and higher costs.
