Daylight Knife-Point Robbery in Butibori: Couple Robbed of Gold and Cash, Entire Incident Caught on Camera

Nagpur: A daring daylight robbery at knifepoint in Phukeshwar Shivar under Butibori Police Station has sparked fresh concerns over law and order in Nagpur Rural. Two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly robbed an Agriculture Department employee and his wife of around four tolas of gold jewellery and cash before fleeing the scene. The entire incident was recorded on a mobile phone by a young relative travelling with the family.

According to police, the robbery took place at around 5 pm on July 5, when Suhas Chandrakant Hajare was travelling towards Butibori with his family in an Alto car. As they reached Phukeshwar Shivar, two men on a motorcycle intercepted their vehicle.

The accused allegedly threatened the family with a knife and warned them of serious consequences if they resisted. They then snatched gold ornaments, including a chain, rings and other jewellery weighing about four tolas, along with cash, before escaping.

Mobile Video Becomes Crucial Evidence

In a remarkable presence of mind, a young relative inside the car recorded the entire robbery on a mobile phone. The footage reportedly captures the suspects and is expected to provide crucial leads in identifying them. The video has also reached Nagpur Today.

Police Probe Underway

Butibori Police reached the spot soon after the incident and launched an investigation. Officials said they are examining the mobile footage, CCTV recordings and other technical evidence to trace the accused. Despite the ongoing probe, the suspects remain at large.

Residents Demand Stronger Security

The incident has created fear among residents of Phukeshwar and nearby villages, with locals demanding increased police patrolling and swift action against the culprits. Many have questioned the safety of commuters after such a brazen robbery on a public road in broad daylight.

Police said efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accused at the earliest.
