CNG leak at Dighori pump triggers panic; no injuries reported

Nagpur: Panic gripped residents of Dighori on Narsala Road late Tuesday night after a major CNG leak was reported at a filling station, prompting evacuation and emergency intervention by fire department. No injuries, property damage were reported.According to officials, a CNG tanker carrying gas from Mouda reached the pump around 10pm for refilling the station’s storage tank. After the gas transfer was completed, the driver allegedly moved the vehicle without disconnecting the supply pipe, causing the pipeline attached to main storage tank to snap and leaving a valve open. Gas continued leaking from the open valve for nearly an hour. Residents and pump staff noticed a strong smell of gas and alerted the NMC’s control room.A team from Sakkardara fire station rushed and launched a search operation to trace the leak’s source. Firefighters later found the open valve and shut it immediately. Pump owner Kishore Dawade and manager Kunal Latare assisted the team. Officials said gas equivalent to more than 25 cylinders escaped during the leakage.
