Bawankule to hoist tricolour in Nagpur on Maharashtra Day on May 1


Nagpur: Preparations are underway in Nagpur to mark the 67th Maharashtra Day with official ceremonies and cultural events on May 1. The main state function will be led by Chandrashekhar Bawankule, State Revenue Minister and Guardian Minister of Nagpur district, who will hoist the national flag at 8 am.

The programme will be held at the premises of the Divisional Commissioner Office Nagpur, where senior administrative officers, police personnel, and dignitaries are expected to be present. Following the flag hoisting, Bawankule will receive the ceremonial salute from the armed police force, marking the formal proceedings of the state event.

In addition to the official programme, a cultural event has been organised in the evening to celebrate the spirit and heritage of Maharashtra. The programme will take place at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Hall in Civil Lines at 5:30 pm, featuring performances that reflect the rich cultural traditions of the state.

Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari has appealed to citizens to participate in large numbers and be a part of the celebrations, emphasising the significance of Maharashtra Day in honouring the state’s formation and identity.

Security arrangements and logistical preparations are being finalised to ensure smooth conduct of the events, with authorities expecting a good turnout from the public.
