Hyderabad: A four-year-old girl who went missing on Sunday afternoon was found bludgeoned to death after allegedly being raped, at a construction site in Narsingi early on Monday morning. Police arrested a construction worker who was last seen with the girl. According to the police, the worker is suspected of having lured the little girl away from her tenement by offering her chocolates. He then allegedly took her to a secluded spot where he raped her and then bludgeoned her to death with a rock. The girl’s parents, who work at the construction site as labourers, noticed that she was missing on Sunday afternoon. They then alerted the manager of the construction company, who initiated a search for the girl. After a few hours, a boy reported that he saw the girl with a man who was also a worker at the same construction site.Family members and other workers then rushed to the worker’s tenement, and found the door locked from inside. “The man did not respond to repeated knocks. He opened the door only after half an hour, and was visibly drunk. He denied any knowledge of the missing girl,” a family member said. The man was then reportedly roughed up by a group of workers. At around 8 pm, Narsingi police registered a case based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s family members. After interrogation, the man confessed to killing the girl after raping her.“The girl’s body was found in an isolated place nearby. She was found dead with a deep injury to her head. The rock used by the killer was also found at the spot,” police said, adding that the accused first strangled the girl before bludgeoning her.Police arrested the man and charged him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
