Nagpur Police Raid Illegal Hookah Parlour Operating as Café


As part of the ongoing “Operation Thunder” drive, Nagpur Police conducted a late-night raid on an alleged illegal hookah parlour operating under the guise of a café in the Manav Nagar area.

The raid was carried out at Netflix and Chill Café during the intervening night of May 9 and 10 under the guidance of Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal.

During the operation, police found waiter Sohail Khan Firoz Khan (22) along with 19 customers present at the premises. Officials alleged that tobacco-based hookah products harmful to health were being illegally served to customers.

Police seized hookah pots, tobacco flavours, smoking equipment, refrigerators, freezers, tables, chairs and other materials collectively worth Rs 82,995.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003, the Maharashtra Police Act and Section 272 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police officials said the crackdown on illegal hookah parlours in Nagpur will continue with intensified action in the coming days.
