Traditionally known for its fiery mix of puffed rice, mustard oil, spices and fresh ingredients, Jhalmudi has long been a staple snack on the streets of West Bengal. At the festival, however, the classic dish has been reinvented with modern twists while retaining its authentic Bengali essence.

Speaking about the event, Chef Vishnu Manohar said that the puffed rice and several signature spices used in preparing the snack were specially sourced from West Bengal to preserve the original taste.

“We wanted Nagpur residents to experience the authentic flavour of Bengal. Jhalmudi is not just tasty and spicy, but also a nutritious snack if prepared with the right balance of ingredients,” he said.

According to the organisers, arrangements have been made to serve nearly 1,500 to 2,000 visitors during the festival. Food enthusiasts, families and youngsters are turning up in large numbers to enjoy the flavour-packed delicacy.

The festival has created a lively atmosphere among citizens, blending Nagpur’s love for food with Bengal’s rich culinary heritage in a colourful and flavourful celebration.
