Nagpur-Doha air service set to recommence from May 21

Direct flight services between Nagpur and Doha will resume from May 21, offering relief to travellers after a prolonged suspension. However, the significant increase in ticket prices may come as a setback for passengers.

Qatar Airways had halted its direct Doha-Nagpur operations after February 27 amid escalating tensions in the Gulf region and security concerns following attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel. The suspension, initially announced till March, was later extended first to May 15 and then to September 15.

With conditions now improving and passenger demand rising, the airline has decided to restart flights from Doha to Nagpur from May 20 and from Nagpur to Doha from May 21. A Qatar Airways aircraft is expected to land in Nagpur again after a break of two months and 21 days.

Despite the resumption, passengers will have to bear substantially higher fares. Sources said economy class tickets from Doha to Nagpur now start at Rs 34,000, compared to nearly Rs 24,000 before the conflict, reflecting an increase of around 41%. Business class fares have climbed from nearly Rs 65,000 to Rs 1 lakh, marking a rise of over 54%.

For travellers flying from Nagpur to Doha, economy fares now begin at Rs 23,000. Meanwhile, business class tickets, which earlier started at around Rs 65,000, have now gone up to Rs 1.22 lakh, indicating a massive surge in prices.

The airline has also introduced slight changes to the summer flight schedule. Earlier, the Doha-Nagpur flight used to arrive at 2.20 am, but it will now land at 2.45 am. Similarly, the Nagpur-Doha flight, which earlier departed at 3.50 am, will now take off at 4.15 am. The service will continue to operate five days a week.
