Drug peddler held under ‘Operation Thunder’ in Nagpur; Rs 2.55 lakh worth MD seized

Nagpur: Acting under the special anti-narcotics drive “Operation Thunder – Let’s Unite for a Drug-Free Society”, initiated by Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, the Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Squad arrested a youth with a significant quantity of banned drugs in Sakkardara.
At around 3:40 am on April 18, police personnel on patrol spotted a suspicious individual riding a silver Vespa without a registration number near Bidipeth Road towards Sonzari Nagar. The suspect was chased and intercepted near Solanki Wadi.
The accused was identified as Prathmesh Vilas Solanki (23), a resident of Old Sakkardara. During a search conducted in the presence of panch witnesses, police recovered 51 grams of MD (Mephedrone) powder valued at approximately Rs 2.55 lakh from his possession.
Police also seized Rs 40,000 cash, a mobile phone, an electronic weighing scale, the scooter, and Aadhaar card, taking the total seizure value to Rs 3.65 lakh.
During interrogation, Solanki revealed that he had procured the drugs from his associate Sahil Mahesh Solanki (30) of Rameshwari for the purpose of selling it for financial gain.
A case has been registered at Sakkardara Police Station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and the accused has been arrested. Efforts are underway to trace the absconding co-accused.
