Two killed, two injured in late-night road accident in Kalamna

Nagpur: Two persons lost their lives and two others sustained serious injuries in a horrific late-night road accident in the Kalamna area of Nagpur. A case has been registered at the Kalamna Police Station in connection with the incident.
The accident occurred around 10.30 pm on Tuesday, April 7, near Laxminagar Chowk. According to police, four persons were travelling on a single motorcycle (Hero Splendor) after attending a wedding ceremony.
During the journey, the rider reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing the motorcycle to crash violently into the rear of an Eicher truck (CG 08 AS 8755) that was parked on the roadside.
In the impact, Suraj Bhagwan Ratre (22), who was riding the motorcycle, and Balwant Banjare (around 50) sustained critical injuries. Both succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
The two other injured persons were rushed to Bhavani Hospital and Mayo Hospital before being shifted to a trauma centre in GMCH Nagpur, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the truck was negligently parked on the public road, which may have contributed to the accident.
Based on a complaint, Kalamna police have registered a case against the truck driver for negligence, accusing him of leaving the vehicle improperly parked on the road and thereby causing the fatal accident. Action has also been initiated under the Motor Vehicles Act, and further investigation is underway.
