Nagpur: In an initiative aimed at promoting independence, mobility and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), in association with the Social Welfare Department, is conducting a free Jaipur Foot and assistive devices camp in the city.
NMC Mayor Neeta Thakre announced details of the initiative during a press conference. The camp, being organised for eligible persons with disabilities from Nagpur district, is being held from August 7 to 10 at the Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Sabhagruha in Reshimbagh.
The camp provides beneficiaries with facilities for the measurement, registration and distribution of artificial limbs and various assistive devices. The initiative is intended to enhance mobility and help persons with disabilities lead more independent and dignified lives.
To ensure that beneficiaries do not face difficulties in reaching the venue, the NMC Transport Department has arranged zone-wise buses to ferry beneficiaries to the camp and drop them back after the process.
The civic administration has urged eligible beneficiaries to make use of the facility and take advantage of the free assistive equipment being provided through the camp.
