NCP workers stage protest in Nagpur over remark against Sunetra Pawar

Nagpur: The Nagpur city unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Wednesday staged a protest near the Gandhi statue at Variety Square against Maharashtra Congress President Harshvardhan Sapkal over his alleged objectionable remarks against NCP leader Sunetra Pawar.

The demonstration witnessed the participation of party office-bearers, elected representatives and a large number of workers, who raised slogans against Sapkal and strongly condemned his alleged statement. The protesters demanded that the Congress leader issue a public apology for his remarks.

During the agitation, some party workers attempted to block traffic by moving onto the road, leading to brief disruption in the area.

Police personnel immediately intervened, preventing the road blockade and taking several protesters into preventive custody. Tension prevailed at the protest site for some time before the situation was brought under control with the deployment of adequate police force.

No untoward incident was reported, and normal traffic movement was restored shortly after police dispersed the demonstrators. The protest remained peaceful despite the brief standoff between the agitators and the police.
