Nagpur: A 25-year-old woman created ruckus at her ex-boyfriend’s residence upon learning about his engagement scheduled in the coming days. The woman claimed he had established a physical relationship with her on the pretext of marriage.She also alleged that the family of the former boyfriend thrashed her and her mother when she confronted him at his home. The incident occurred a few days ago. Kalamna police on Sunday registered a case of rape against the man. Sources said the accused, 27-year-old Aman Dhakate of the Lakadganj area, was arrested.The survivor alleged in her complaint that she first met Dhakate on social media in 2019. As per the complaint, the accused established physical relations with her multiple times at her residence, each time promising to marry her.The woman claimed that the accused later betrayed her and was preparing to marry someone else. Upon learning about his engagement to another woman, the complainant reached Dhakate’s residence, where she was allegedly assaulted.Investigating officers are collecting evidence, including call records, messages and witness accounts, to verify the sequence of events spanning several years.Further probe, including digital forensics and medical examination of the complainant, is underway. Police authorities have assured a fair and time-bound inquiry.
